The American voice is an echo of inspirational acts or events that is used to motivate individuals in the American society and increase patriotism. The American voice is used through the right of freedom of speech and is shown through influential words that affect society. An example of someone that shows American voice would be Martin Luther King, Jr. because he used his freedom of speech to influence America during his life, creating his American voice.

  11. Accumulative Definition of American Voice: freedom to artistically express your opinions about American culture, traditions, events, emotions, and society.

William Carlos Williams and Other Modern Poets:
-How they show America in their writing: The authors show the hopelessness of the war through their poems and are writing in a defiant way to former traditions in America. They are trying to tell people of the American society during the modern-age to stop conforming, to care about each other, and to not be afraid to express their opinions in a free-form (free-verse poetry).
-People and Society: They are saying that people don't care about each other enough, tend to conform, and that they don't have enough individuality.
Events they haven't talked about: The modern poets have not talked about the Great Depression, racism, and moving forward to newer innovations.
